"We had a bit of pickup in activity with a couple of gene therapy companies getting bought in the past year or so, with Audentes and Nightstar getting purchased. There was a bigger acquisition going further back now with Lilly (NYSE: $LLY) buying Loxo Oncology, in the targeted oncology space. Recently, Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: $JNJ) put a bid for Momenta Pharmaceuticals (NASDAQ: $MNTA), a multibillion-dollar bid that got people’s attention.

So hopefully, there’ll be a bit of a pickup. It’s hard to see why there wouldn’t be given many more small- and mid-cap biotech companies getting into the later stages of development, in addition to the free money situation that we find ourselves in, where larger corporations like a JNJ or Novartis (NYSE:NVS) or Pfizer (NYSE: $PFE) can essentially borrow at 0%..."
