The times are a a changing at Weight Watchers International, Inc. (NYSE:WTW). The company continues to shift its focus to an overall health brand, and it has just put an exclamation point on that by renaming itself.

Weight Watchers is renaming itself “WW” to reflect shift in focus from weight loss to overall health, it said Monday.
The company plans to launch a new app and a partnership with Headspace, a company that teaches meditation through its own app. WW’s new tagline is “Wellness that Works.”
In addition to the new name, the company is also launching a new program known as ‘Wellness Wins.’ Mindy Grossman, WW president and CEO, shared some thoughts on the changes.
“We are committed to always being the best weight management program on the planet, but now we’re putting our decades of knowledge and expertise in behavioral science to work for an even greater mission,” she said. “We are becoming the world’s partner in wellness. No matter what your goal is — to lose weight, eat healthier, move more, develop a positive mind-set, or all of the above — we will deliver science-based solutions that fit into people’s lives.”
Weight Watchers International, Inc. shares rose $0.37 (+0.53%) in premarket trading Monday. Year-to-date, WTW has gained 58.38%, versus a 10.16% rise in the benchmark S&P 500 index during the same period.
