General aviation deliveries top 2,600 for 2021

Global deliveries of general aviation aircraft rose to 2,630 in 2021 and a Wichita company helped lead the way. According to new data from the General Aviation Manufacturers Association, deliveries of piston aircraft worldwide rose 5.5% year over year to 1,393, while business jet deliveries increased 10.2% to 710 aircraft. The largest segment gain was for turboprop aircraft, which rose 19% to 527 deliveries year over year.

Spirit AeroSystems HQ moving to 100% wind energy using local sources

Textron Aviation on Tuesday announced that its Wichita plant has delivered the company’s 8,000th business jet. The milestone handoff was a Cessna Citation Longitude, the company’s new flagship jet, which will join the Scotts Miracle-Gro Co. (NYSE: SMG) corporate fleet. “A milestone like this wouldn’t be possible without all the owners and operators who love to fly our aircraft and trust the reliability and versatility of our Citation products,” Textron Aviation CEO Ron Draper said in a press release.

General aviation activity in Wichita reflects industry rebound

While commercial flight activity in Wichita mirrored national trends in remaining depressed in 2021, general aviation activity locally also reflected that industry’s quick rebound last year. According to data from the Wichita Airport Authority, general aviation take-offs and landings hit 46,272 last year to rise 26% from 2020. With usage of aircraft like business jets steadily increasing since the early onset of Covid-19, such operations locally ended 2021 up 2.7% from the pre-pandemic numbers of 2019.

Bombardier lifts forecast for business jet deliveries as demand rebounds

(Reuters) -Bombardier Inc raised its full-year estimates for revenue and aircraft deliveries on Thursday, helped by higher business jet traffic and demand for planes after the pandemic sapped orders last year. The planemaker also said it would use less free cash in 2021 than previously expected, after beating analysts'' estimates for quarterly revenues on higher deliveries and demand for aftermarket services.
