Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has released a new ad program that touts the various ways that users can benefit from using an iPad. According to one observer, that’s a clear sign that the tech giant is still trying to convince prospective users on its best uses.
BGR‘s Andy Meek shares his take on what Apple’s new campaign demonstrates.
The tldr version of the ads: iPads are versatile and laptop-like in their convenience. Most people arguably still don’t see them as full-fledged laptop replacements, which is why Apple keeps beating this messaging drum. That, for many users with basic needs, an iPad — whether it’s the 9.7-inch model or the iPad Pro – can be everything you need in a laptop.
The iPad, by the way, was first released eight years ago now, which is another reason these new ads seem to come at an interesting time. You’d probably be hard pressed to find someone today unfamiliar with Apple’s tablet — so what does it say about them that we have to keep being reminded how much time and space they can save us?
While there’s no denying that the iPad is an extraordinarily popular product, its availability hasn’t exactly translated into the death of the PC or laptop markets. There’s no sign that’s going to happen in the near-term either, but Apple wants users to know they can accomplish just as much with their handy devices.
Among the features that the new ads touts are things such as how an iPad allows users to travel simply.
Apple Inc. shares were trading at $189.00 per share on Wednesday morning, down $1.35 (-0.71%). Year-to-date, AAPL has gained 12.57%, versus a 4.90% rise in the benchmark S&P 500 index during the same period.
