Value is becoming in short supply these days as the market presses back up towards the all time highs. Thus, investors have to dig a little deeper to find exceptional value opportunities.
Gladly 8 extreme value stocks emerged from my recent search. The key was not just to focus on value, but to also make sure the stock had other catalysts in place to help it achieve that upside in a timely fashion. That’s why I focused on stocks that were also sporting a POWR Rating of “A” Strong Buy.
As you probably have learned by now, the POWR Rating is centered on stocks experiencing the best momentum at this time. Typically that momentum is borne of a strong fundamental catalyst that serves to keep shares on the rise going forward.
Now let’s talk about the value portion of this search. There are many different measures of value like PE, Price to Sales, Book Value, PEG and more. However, I have found that the best singular criteria is the average target price generated by the analysts covering the stock.
Remember that every industry has different methods for valuation. For example, energy stock prices have a lot more to do with the value of proven reserves than the current level of sales or earnings. So the average target price takes all these different valuation methods into account and creates the singular best way to locate stocks with the most upside potential.
When you combine it together we are focusing on stocks experiencing the best momentum, based on strong fundamentals, and with the most upside potential to fair value according to Wall Street.
