While the Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) Model S has had little trouble winning fans since its release in 2012, some enthusiasts are hoping for a redesign of the car they’ve grown to love. A recent thread popped up on Reddit that outlined some of the items that are at the top of the list.
Business Insider has the details on what customers are hoping to see from Tesla in the future.
Some Tesla fans and customers have taken this moment to speculate on what a redesigned version of the Model S might bring. In a Reddit thread titled, “Model S Refresh – what features are you expecting,” one user opened the discussion by asking other users what features a new version of the Model S would need to justify buying it over the Model 3, which starts at a little under half the $74,500 base price for the Model S.
While those who participated in the thread had a variety of requests, they seemed to converge on a few features: a redesigned interior, heads-up display, and a bigger battery.
Tesla has its hands full on a number of other projects these days, and there’s no sign that a redesign of the Model S will be in the offing anytime soon. That said, it’s valuable feedback for the automaker, which will obviously want to insure it’s hitting the right notes for luxury electric car shoppers.
As Autotrader executive editor Brian Moody explains, progress that has been made on the company’s Model 3 has not been lost on buyers in that market. “What luxury buyers don’t want is to have something where the less expensive car is … ‘nicer,'” he said.
Tesla Inc shares were trading at $330.24 per share on Thursday morning, down $2.06 (-0.62%). Year-to-date, TSLA has gained 6.07%, versus a 2.52% rise in the benchmark S&P 500 index during the same period.
